Dutch Apple Pie You will Need: 1 - 9" Pie Crust (I make my own, but you can use pre-made) 8 Medium apples. peeled cored & sliced 3/4 C. - 1 C. Granulated Sugar 1/2 tsp. Cinnamon 3 Tbsp. Flour For the topping: 1/2 C. Packed Brown Sugar 1/2 C. Flour 1/4 tsp. cinnamon Mix together with fork, then cut in 1/3 C. softened margarine (or butter - I used unsalted butter this time & I don't think the flavor suffered any) - I use a dough blender for this as it does a really good job of cutting the butter in there nicely. Mix sugar, cinnamon & flour from the first list together in large bowl (blend well with a fork or spoon), then add apples as you get them sliced (to keep them fresh looking, peel, core & slice 1 at a time & drop into sugar mixture & stir slightly to coat all slices). Pour apple/sugar mixture into pie shell. Combine ingredients for the topping then carefully pour or use hand to make a nice layer over the top of the apples. Bake at 350° for 45 minutes or until apples are cooked to your liking & crust is golden brown. This pie usually has quite a bit of liquid if you don't let it cool completely to set up... but it's so much yummier (is that a word?) if you only cool it slightly, then have that first slice with a little bit of vanilla ice cream. it's up to you. If you want it to be well set up (no liquid running out), don't slice until completely cooled. Enjoy!
